Macon County residents urged to get out and vote

DECATUR- The Macon County Clerk is urging people to get out and vote.

In the last local election, only 7,000 people out of 75,000 people in Decatur voted.  As a result, Macon County Clerk Steve Bean is urging community members to take control of their civic duty.

"Who you vote for in this election is probably more important that the presidential election," Bean told WAND News.

Bean emphasized voting in local elections directly impacts community concerns.

School funding, taxing, new laws and much more are decisions that are made by local officials.

Those who wish to vote early can visit the Macon County Clerk's office in Downtown Decatur.  It is closed this Friday in observance of Good Friday. But it will be open Monday from 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM. It will also be open all day on Election Day (April 7) from 6 AM to 7 PM.
