Man escapes from Eastern Illinois jail, missing teen found
KANKAKEE - Eastern Illinois authorities say a man who is awaiting sentencing after being convicted of murder has escaped from the Jerome Combs Detention Center.
According to the Kankakee County Sheriff's Office, Kamron Taylor,23, escaped from the jail at about 3:00 a.m. Wednesday, after he overpowered a guard. Police say Taylor took the guard's uniform, keys, and SUV.
Authorities say Taylor left the facility in the officer's brown Chevrolet Equinox. Kankakee County officials say the Equinox was found abandoned in a Kankakee neighborhood at about 8:30 a.m.
In addition, Illinois State police have announced that a LEAP Alert was issued for a Kankakee teen, whose disappearance police believed to be connected to Taylor. The LEAP Alert was canceled at 3:50 p.m. on Wednesday, with Illinois State Police announcing that the teen had been found.
Taylor is described as a black male, standing 5'9", weighing 170 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Taylor may be wearing a correctional officer uniform, and is considered armed and dangerous. If you see Taylor, or have information on his whereabouts, you are urged to call 911.
