Deadline for absentee ballot application approaching

SPRINGFIELD - Sangamon County Clerk Don Gray has announced that April 2 will be the last day for registered voters to apply electronically to receive a ballot to vote absentee by mail.

Gray says voters can submit their absentee application at http://www.sangamoncountyclerk.com/Elections/Vote/AbsenteeApplication.aspx. ; Once the application is submitted, a ballot will be processed and immediately mailed.

Gray also says that in-person voting will continue in the Sangamon County Election Office through 5:00 p.m. on April 6, and that the last day for grace period registration and voting will be April 4.  Voters who register and vote during the grace period will not be eligible to vote at their polling place on Election Day.

In-person voting hours are 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. on April 2, 3, and 6, and from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on April 4.  For more information, visit www.sangamoncountyclerk.com or call (217) 753-8683.
