Southern Illinois man sentenced to six years in prison

MARION - A southern Illinois man who pleaded guilty to felony possession of methamphetamine has been sentenced to six years in prison.

Authorities say Timothy Carr, 26, originally faced possession of meth manufacturing materials, child endangerment, and possession of drug paraphernalia charges in addition to the meth possession charge.  However, officials say those charges were dropped in a plea deal.

Authorities say Carr and his wife were arrested at a West Frankfort motel on January 14, after officers received an anonymous tip.  According to police, when officers searched the room, they discovered that Carr and his wife had allegedly been cooking meth near their 2-year-old daughter.

Carr will serve his sentence at the Menard Correctional Center.
