SMTD offering special service during Lincoln funeral procession re-enactment

SPRINGFIELD - The Springfield Mass Transit District has announced it will transport riders from downtown Springfield to Oak Ridge Cemetery during the re-enactment of the Lincoln funeral procession.

Officials say riders who board buses on Second Street, between Washington Street and Adams Street, can be dropped off at an area along the bus route within Oak Ridge Cemetery.  After the ceremony is completed, buses will be available to bring passengers back to the original pick-up point.

SMTD officials say the bus fare for this service will be the normal one-way bus fare.  Cash, SMTD Bus Passes, and SMTD free bus passes may be used to pay for the fare.  We've included the prices of bus fares for this service below:

Age 5 and Over - $1.25
Age 4 and Under, 1 or 2 children with an adult - Free
Age 4 and Under, More than 2 children - $0.60
Age 65 and Over With SMTD ID Card - $0.60
People with Disabilities With SMTD ID Card - $0.60
