DECATUR - A Decatur man who was convicted of killing a woman during a 2008 robbery has been sentenced to 60 years in prison.

Brandon Owens, 26, was sentenced during a Thursday hearing.  Officials say Owens chose not to speak to the victim's family during the hearing.

Owens was convicted of first-degree murder in February in the death of 20-year-old Leadgrie Cunningham.  According to authorities, Cunningham was wounded 70 times during the incident.

Officials say when the 60-year prison sentence was handed down, security quickly took Owens out of the courtroom, as he had responded in an aggressive manner.
