Northern Illinois gun range offers classes to children

EAST DUNDEE - A suburban Chicago gun range is offering children the chance to learn how to use firearms.

According to GAT Guns Manager Randy Potter, the facility first started offering classes for children about a year ago because parents wanted to give their kids an opportunity to shoot a gun.  Potter also says it's up to parents to decide if their child is mature enough to handle a gun at the range.

During the classes, children practice firing guns while they are unloaded.  If the child shows that they are safe, and if the parent allows it, the child is allowed to use live ammo at the range.
