DECATUR - Macon County authorities say an early-morning single vehicle crash has left one man dead.
Authorities say at during the morning hours of April 7, officers responded to a report of a single vehicle crash near the intersection of Bearsdale Road and Pershing Road in rural Macon County. Police say a 20-year-old Decatur man was pronounced dead at the scene at about 4:39 a.m.
According to authorities, the initial investigation into the crash revealed that the vehicle left the roadway and entered a pond, and was partially submerged in the water. Two other individuals were able to get out of the vehicle after it came to rest, and asked for help from nearby residents.
Macon County Coroner Michael Day says an autopsy to determine the cause of death will be conducted by the McLean County Coroner on Wednesday. Day also says the identity of the man is being withheld, pending the notification of his immediate family.
