Electronics recycling event offered for Champaign County residents

URBANA - Champaign County residents will have the opportunity to safely dispose of unwanted electronics during the Countywide Residential Electronics Collection on April 11.

Officials say the collection will take place from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. in parking lot M-4 at Parkland College in Champaign.  Residents who wish to donate are advised to enter the site from the intersection of Duncan Road and Bradley Avenue.

Officials also say that no fees will be collected from individuals who drop off items, and that volunteers will be on hand to unload the items from your vehicle.  We've included a list of electronics that will be accepted at this event below:

- Televisions of any size
- Computers
- Laptops
- Monitors
- Home Entertainment Electronic Items (VCRs, Betamax, DVD players, cassette players, Blue Ray players, 8-track players, turntables, etc.)
- Office Electronic Equipment (printers, scanners, copiers, etc.)
- Communication devices
- Rechargeable Batteries
- Battery Chargers and Adapters
- Surge Strips

Televisions or monitors that are dismantled, and CRT TVs and monitors that have cracked or broken screens will not be accepted.  For more information about the upcoming collection, visit www.ccrpc.org.
