CENTRAL ILLINOIS - Illinois State Police say a series of semi crashes on I-74 this morning could lead to delays for Champaign County and Vermilion County motorists.
Authorities say the first crash happened on I-74 westbound near mile post 195. The passing lane was closed from 7:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. while crews worked to remove a semi from the median. The second crash happened on I-74 eastbound near mile post 205, and resulted in the closure of the passing lane from 7:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m.
The third crash happened on I-74 in the median at mile post 188. Authorities say lane restrictions began at about 10:00 a.m., and may continue until noon. ISP officials say all three crashes were caused by weather conditions related with wind, driver error during wind/rainy conditions, and hydroplaning vehicles.
