ALPLM hosting event to commemorate anniversary of Lincoln's death

SPRINGFIELD - Illinois Historic Preservation Agency officials say the 150th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's death will be commemorated with a special ceremony on April 15.

The event will be held outside of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield. Officials say the event will feature a flag presentation, a fly-over by Navy Jets, an appearance by a Tuskegee airman, a 21-gun salute, military music, and an appearance by Governor Bruce Rauner.

This special ceremony is among several events being hosted by the Presidential Library and Museum to commemorate Lincoln's death, as well as the anniversary of the end of the Civil War.  Admission is free, and is open to the public.
