Decatur police identify person or persons of interest in homicide investigation
DECATUR - Decatur police say they have identified a person or persons of interest in connection with their investigation into a homicide on the city's south side.
Authorities say the person or persons are currently in custody on charges unrelated to the death of 19-year-old Paige Mars. Police say Mars' body was found in the 1100 block of Lincoln Park Drive at about 8:00 a.m. Monday.
The Macon County Coroner says Mars died of multiple gunshot wounds to the head and chest. Decatur police say their investigation indicates that Mars allegedly knew the offender or offenders, and that this was not a random crime.
The Decatur Police Department and Macon County State's Attorney's Office are currently investigating Mars' death, as well as the other related crimes. We will provide additional information once it becomes available.
