1 dead in Macon County house fire

NIANTIC - Macon County authorities say one man has died in a house fire in Niantic Thursday morning.

Authorities say firefighters were dispatched to a home in the 300 block of South Main Street during the morning hours of April 9.  Fire officials say a man was found inside the home while firefighters were putting out the flames.  Officials also say the home was severely damaged in the fire.

According to Macon County Coroner Michael Day, the time of death was set at 10:45 a.m.  Day says an autopsy is scheduled for Thursday afternoon at the McLean County Coroner's Office.

The victim's name is temporarily being withheld, pending notification of family members.  The Macon County Sheriff's Office and Illinois State Fire Marshal's Office are investigating this incident.
