Bloomington Police Department hires youth intervention specialist

BLOOMINGTON - The Bloomington Police Department is using a $25,000 grant from State Farm to hire a youth intervention specialist.

Authorities say United Way of McLean County community impact manager Michael Donnelly has been hired for the position.  Donnelly will work with the Bloomington Police Department to help keep young people out of the juvenile justice system.

Donnelly's position with the department is a part-time job, with his main responsibility being the identification and mentoring of at-risk young people.
