DECATUR -- Decatur's Youth Hockey program needs your help to win a nationwide contest, all about the love of hockey.
Decatur was named one of the top 10 finalists for Kraft's Hockeyville USA program -- a contest put on by Kraft Foods, the National Hockey League, and NBC Sports. The grand prize winner will win $150,000 in rink upgrades and have the opportunity to host a pre-season NHL game.
The Decatur Civic Center was one of 1,324 rinks submitted to the contest. As a top 10 community, the Decatur Civic Center is already guaranteed at least $20,000 in rink upgrades.
"We are thrilled to be selected as a top 10 community for Kraft's Hockeyville program. This is a great opportunity for the Decatur Youth Hockey Association and for the Decatur Civic Center as we continue to look for ways to grow the love and passion for hockey in our community. Being recognized nationally for our program and passion for the game is remarkable, and we hope the community will continue to support us by voting and sharing this with their friends and family," said Jason Habrock, president, Decatur Youth Hockey Association.
