Authorities make arrests for alleged meth manufacturing

PENFIELD - Champaign County authorities say an investigation into a report of alleged methamphetamine manufacturing in Penfield has resulted in two arrests.

Authorities say on April 16, members of the Illinois State Police Tactical Response Team, Illinois State Police Methamphetamine Response Team, and the Champaign County Metro SWAT Team executed a search warrant on a home in connection with an investigation into possible meth production.

Authorities say that two individuals, Brian Wenigk, 33, and Dane Frickey, 23, were arrested while the search warrant was being executed.  Police also say that evidence of prior manufacturing was seized during this time.

Wenigk currently faces preliminary charges of manufacturing/delivering methamphetamine and the unlawful sale of a firearm.  Frickey faces preliminary charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug equipment, and possession of a hypodermic needle.
