Millikin University hosting annual Masterworks concert

Posted:
DECATUR - Millikin University's Percussion Ensemble is inviting central Illinois residents to attend its annual Masterworks concert on April 25.

The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Kirkland Fine Arts Center, and will feature contemporary percussion chamber music composed by some of the world's leading composers.  Officials say this concert will be their final event of the season.

Officials also say that the commissioned work of Zack Stanton, a composition professor at the University of Iowa, will also be featured.  The piece, titled "Venture," will serve as the closing track for the ensemble's "Premieres Volume 2" CD, scheduled for release in 2017.

This event is free and open to the public.  For more information on Millikin's performing ensembles, visit millikin.edu/music.
