Champaign police make second arrest in connection with shooting death

CHAMPAIGN - The Champaign Police Department has announced that a second arrest has been made in connection with the October 25, 2014 death of a central Illinois man.

Champaign police say detectives arrested Curtis Hairston, 39, at about 10:57 a.m. on April 17.  Authorities say Hairston was arrested in the October 2014 shooting death of Jermel Hedrick.

Authorities also say Hairston faces a preliminary charge of first degree murder.  Hairston is currently being held in the Champaign County Jail on $1 million bond.
