Businesses Rally For Del's

Posted:
Decatur – Normally business competitors.  Now friends coming together to help a local shop in its time of need.

Ads are currently running for Del's Popcorn Shop which closed its doors after an electrical fire on April 2nd.  The ads are sponsored by businesses on Merchant Street and downtown Decatur.

“We're all a close family down here and if somebody is in trouble we're all here to help out,” Robbies Grille owner Rodney Powell told WAND's Doug Wolfe.  “He was shocked.  We surprised him with it.”

“It's really phenomenal,” Del's Popcorn owner Kemper Wilcutt II stated.  “It's pretty awesome the fact that they all pulled together without my complete knowledge.”

Repairing Del's Popcorn Shop could take four to six months.  Wilcutt would like to reopen on September 1st in time to start selling caramel apples for the fall.
