U of I faculty members among highest-paid in Big Ten
CHAMPAIGN - An American Association of University Professors report has shown that University of Illinois faculty members' salaries are among the highest in the Big Ten.
According to the report, the University of Illinois ranks 17th in the nation among four-year public universities in regards to how much is paid to professors, 22nd for associate professors, and seventh for assistant professors.
Officials say the average yearly pay for a U of I faculty members to be about $150,100. That amount is higher in comparison to last year, when faculty members made an average of $146,400 a year. Another public institution in Illinois, Northwestern University, averaged about $196,500 for its faculty members.
