ALPLM breaks attendance record on 10th anniversary

SPRINGFIELD - Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum officials say a new attendance record was set during its tenth anniversary celebration on April 19.

Officials say 5,251 visitors from around the world came to the museum during the celebration, besting the previous record of 4,740 that was set on the first day the museum was opened, on April 19, 2005.  Since opening its doors, the museum has welcomed about 3.7 million visitors, well above the projected 2.4 million.

The museum had free admission during the celebration, and also launched a new website, "MyLincoln," to offer visitors a new way to learn about Abraham Lincoln.  According to officials, the new website can be accessed on tablets or smart phones while visiting the museum, and features information and quizzes on what Lincoln was doing on any given day.
