New Healthcare Sign Up Deadline

Posted:
Decatur – Tens of thousands of uninsured Americans were stunned at tax time when they were penalized for not having health insurance.  But those still without insurance may get a second chance.

An extended sign up period is now underway.  You can simply sign up on line if you meet certain requirements.

“If you are an individual or a family that's uninsured and you were subject to the penalty when you were filing your 2014 taxes then you may be eligible for a tax season special enrollment period,” Amanda Kozar of Get Covered Illinois told WAND News.  “You have to attest that you found out about the penalty, or first understood the implications of being without coverage, when you filled out those 2014 taxes.”

The new deadline to sign up is April 30, 2015.  You can find out more information by going to GetCoveredIllinois.gov.
