Bicycle repair stations to be installed throughout Springfield

SPRINGFIELD - Springfield officials say several new bicycle repair stations will be installed at trails and parks throughout the city.

The stations, which consists of a bright yellow stand, a heavy-duty air pump, and basic tools, are designed to help cyclists who run into mechanical trouble or flat tires while riding in the city.  Officials say a total of seven stations will be installed, with the first station being dedicated at the Wabash Trail on Wednesday.

The Springfield Bicycle Club, along with other donors, are covering the cost of the stations, which are estimated to cost about $1,000 each.  Installation costs will be covered by the Springfield Park District.
