Two coaches recognized for saving life of student

CERRO GORDO - American Heart Association officials are recognizing the efforts two Cerro Gordo Middle School coaches who saved the life of a student in December.

Officials say Jason Jacobs and Jason Navratil were recognized as American Heart Association HeartSaver Heroes during a special assembly at Cerro Gordo Middle School on Thursday.  Jacobs and Navratil are credited with saving the life of Seth O'Neil by using CPR and an AED when O'Neil suffered cardiac arrest during basketball practice.

Speakers at the assembly included Cerro Gordo Middle School Principal Steven Cline, American Heart Association representatives, and Seth O'Neil.  Seth spoke with WAND-TV, and expressed gratitude for the coaches' actions, saying "I do feel like I got a second chance, and I'm just glad my coaches knew what to do and acted fast.”
