Recall issued for thousands of pounds of grilled chicken patties

WASHINGTON - USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service officials say a Utah-based meat processing company is recalling over 34,000 pounds of meat products as they may be contaminated with pieces of plastic.

Officials say West Liberty Foods is recalling 25-pound cardboard boxes containing five five-pound bags labeled "Subway Fully Cooked Grilled Chicken Breast Patty with Rib Meat" produced on February 4, 2015.  The recalled products also bear the establishment number "EST. 34349 or P-34349" inside the USDA mark of inspection.

The recalled products were shipped to restaurants in Illinois, Minnesota, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas, and West Liberty Foods officials have already contacted the impacted restaurants.  The problem was discovered when West Liberty Foods received complaints from consumers who found small pieces of white plastic in the product.
