Southern Illinois meat packing company recalls 500 pounds of bratwurst

SPRINGFIELD - Illinois Department of Agriculture officials say a meat packing company is recalling about 500 pounds of bratwurst sold in Clay County.

North Clay Packing Co. officials say the affected products were produced between May 23, 2013 and September 3, 2014 and were packaged in white five-pound boxes labeled "Illini Land Bratwurst."  The company says the recall was ordered because the products contain milk, which isn't declared on the product's label.

IDOA officials say meat and poultry inspectors discovered the problem during an inspection, and that there have been no reports of illness related to the consumption of this product.
