WAND News Team Honored


NORMAL - WAND News is honored to be the recipient of four Associated Press Awards for excellence in journalism.  The awards will be presented tonight at the Illinois News Broadcasters Association Convention in Normal, Illinois. 

I-Team Reporter Doug Wolfe took 1st place in the news writing category. Morning Anchor Elise Menaker won 1st place in the "Hard News Feature" category for her report "After the Storm."

I-Team Reporter Eric Steltzer and Photojournalist Eric Ahola were honored with 2nd place in the investigative journalism category for his report on panhandling in Decatur. WAND News also placed second in the spot news category for its work on the "Monroe House Explosion." 

WAND News is also proud to be recognized by the Illinois Broadcasters Association with two nominations for Silver Dome Awards. JC Fultz was nominated for best TV Weathercaster. Matt Loveless was nominated in the Best Sports Story category for his story called "Round of 59."

The Silver Dome Award winners will be announced at a ceremony in June.
