Disc golf course coming to Forsyth Park

FORSYTH - The Forsyth Village Board has approved a proposal that would bring an 18-basket disc golf course to Forsyth Park.

Officials say the plan will cost $10,500; $9,000 for the purchase of the baskets, and $1,500 for a Rantoul firm to design the layout of the course.  Officials are also hoping that the new course will increase visitors to the park.

According to Forsyth Board Trustee Bob Gruenewald, the development could eventually host tournaments.  Gruenewald also says board members researched the possibility of bringing disc golf to their community after receiving an inquiry about a course last year.

Disc golf is played by throwing a flying disc at a basket or target, and borrows many rules from golf.
