Alton woman sentenced to prison in bank fraud case

ALTON - A southern Illinois woman convicted in a bank fraud case has been sentenced to 21 months in prison.

Authorities say Cynthia Palmer, 45, must also serve two years of supervised release, and must pay more than $100,000 in restitution.  Palmer was convicted of defrauding and embezzling money from U.S. Bank.

According to authorities, while Palmer worked at the U.S. Bank office at the Bethalto Airport, she made unauthorized transactions on customers' accounts, and that she targeted people aged from 65 to 96.  Officials say Palmer was fired in December 2013, and that U.S. Bank compensated victims.
