SPRINGFIELD - Authorities say a central Illinois woman who pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including forgery, has been sentenced to two years in prison.

Officials say Debra Weger, 58, was sentenced after pleading guilty to three counts of forgery and five counts of filing fraudulent sales and use tax returns.  In addition to two years in prison, Weger was also ordered to pay $107,952 in restitution to the Illinois Department of Revenue.

Authorities say Weger allegedly filed fraudulent vehicle sales tax returns, failed to file vehicle sales tax returns, failed to pay over taxes due to the state, altered checks payable to the IDOR, and deposited checks payable to IDOR into her personal bank account, all while operating Weger License & Title Service in Decatur.  Authorities also say their investigation found that Weger allegedly caused a minimum of $107,952 in criminal financial harm to the state.
