DECATUR - The Macon County Conservation District is looking for local volunteers to assist in the Annual Illinois State Bird Count on May 9.

Officials say the event will be held at the Rock Springs Conservation Area beginning at 7:00 a.m.  Volunteers will help collect valuable wildlife data during this state-wide bird census.

This event is being sponsored by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.  Volunteers are asked to meet at the Rock Springs Information Shelter.

This event is free and open to residents of all ages and experience levels, but you must register online by May 8.  For more information, or to register, visit www.maconcountyconservation.org.
