Family Service Center celebrates 152 years of helping Springfield residents

SPRINGFIELD - Family Service Center officials celebrated 152 years of service by unveiling a historical marker on its property on April 30.

Officials say the marker is jointly sponsored by the Family Service Center, the Illinois State Historical Society, and the descendents of Mary Jane Tully.  The unveiling ceremony took place at 11:30 a.m.

The nonprofit organization serves approximately 330 at-risk children through its programs, which include an after-school program titled "Compass," foster care, adoption, counseling services, and the Tree of Wishes.
