SPRINGFIELD - The Elijah Iles House Foundation has announced that it will open an exhibit that features photographs of Abraham Lincoln's funeral on May 2.

The exhibit, titled "Bear Him Gently to His Rest: Photographs of the Lincoln Funeral in Springfield" will be held at the Iles House Museum of Springfield History at Seventh Street and Cook Street.  Featured photographs include images of Lincoln's funeral train, mourners entering and leaving the State House, and military guards at the Receiving Vault after the funeral.

Officials say the photographs have been gathered from several sources, including the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, the Lincoln Library, and public and private institutions.  The exhibit is free and open to the public, and will be open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
