Caterpillar to lay off 150 employees at Decatur facility

Posted:
DECATUR - Caterpillar officials have announced that approximately 150 workers at the company's Decatur facility will be placed on indefinite layoff.

Officials say the layoffs are a part of actions being taken to bring production in line with demand, and that even though some cost reduction measures have been implemented, more permanent measures must be taken in the near term.

The affected employees will be in full-time production roles at Caterpillar.  These layoffs are expected to take effect on May 11.  Company officials also say that they plan to offer impacted employees support services during this time.
