Mattoon woman charged with identity theft

Posted:
URBANA - Authorities say a Mattoon woman is facing multiple identity theft charges for allegedly stealing her boss' identity in order to obtain credit.

Prosecutors say Laura Huber, 43, was arraigned on four counts of financial identity theft on May 1.  Huber, who worked as a real estate agent's assistant, has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Authorities say Huber allegedly made more than 100 unauthorized transactions on her boss' business account, and that she allegedly transferred approximately $27,000 into her own checking account.

If convicted of the charges, Huber could face a 15-year prison sentence.
