Nurses and graduating nursing students celebrate Nurses' Week

SPRINGFIELD - Nurses and graduating nursing students from around the state are gathering in Springfield to celebrate Nurses' Week during a special event on May 6.

The event is being held from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at 835 South Second Street.  Officials say participants will be educated on issues such as medication errors, and will learn how to make a difference in their profession through nursing legislation.

According to Illinois Nurses Association Political Action Committee chairperson Yvonne Pinkerton, the role of registered nurses as patient advocates is more vital than ever to patient safety.
