DECATUR- Celebrating the importance of teachers in our schools.

Its home away from home, filled with teachers who serve as more than just educators.

Acting as mentors, role models and friends teachers take on a variety of roles all to provide students with a platform for success.

Observing Teacher's Appreciation week, May 4-8, students at Johns Hill Magnet School shared their thoughts on why just a week isn't enough for all that their teachers do.

Student, R.J Walker said, " They put in all that hard work to help make us smarter so we should give them a reward."

Student, Yitzhak Bahena added, "They push us to the next level so we can learn new stuff and just give everything we got."

Athletic Director and Teacher Kim Schafer said, " This is the greatest occupation that anyone could ever hold because you have such an impact on the future and you're able to reach so many kids."

Students  enjoyed an afternoon assembly credited to the Johns Hill Rock Band and were able to spend  time with their teacher, whose presence directly impacts their future.
