Man sentenced to 20 years in prison

SPRINGFIELD - An Illinois man who pleaded guilty in the 2009 stabbing death of a Springfield man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Authorities say James Eudy, 40, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder last week in the October 2009 death of Erick Huckaby Jr., 39.  Eudy's sentence is the maximum sentence he could receive under a plea deal that he made with prosecutors.

According to Sangamon County State's Attorney John Mihiser, Eudy claimed that he acted in self-defense.  Eudy will be credited for 1,185 days already served.
