ELGIN - Joseph P. Galvan, 59, has been been tapped by Governor Bruce Rauner to head the Illinois Housing Development Authority.
Galvan is a former mayoral candidate in the city of Elgin. He lost the lection by more than a two-to-one margin to incumbent Mayor David Kaptain.
Galvan told the Arlington Heights Daily Herald (http://bit.ly/1ANjl7N) that he is committed to making sure Illinois provides "safe, decent, and affordable housing throughout the state."
Galvan has 30 years of experience in the public and private sector, including nearly a decade of work at the department of Housing and Urban Development.
The chairman of the housing agency is an unpaid position.
