SPRINGFIELD - The Simmons Cancer Institute at Southern Illinois School of Medicine in Springfield has been chosen as one of the sites for a new clinical trial for prostate cancer therapy. 1500 men nationwide will be enrolled in the trial.
"I thing that this is an exciting study because it gives patients access to a powerful oral drug with side effects," said Dr. Robert Mocharnuk, associate professor at the school of medicine.
Bayer HealthCare and Orion Corporation are sponsoring the study. Volunteers must be 18 or older and should call 217-545-1946 to receive information regarding this study or other cancer related trials at SCI.
