Brain Tumor Awareness Month - The Silas Martin Story

Posted:
Decatur – It's brain tumor awareness month.  700,000 people in the U.S. suffer from primary brain tumors.  Another 69,000 will be diagnosed this year.

Decatur teen Silas Martin passed away last December after struggling with brain tumors for more than a decade.  He always maintained a positive attitude and had a great philosophy about daily living.

“If you've been given today take advantage of it and enjoy it because god gave it to you and he might not give you another day,” Gloria Martin, Silas' mother, told WAND's Doug Wolfe.

Symptoms can include headaches, mood changes and numbness.  Infants may even show head swelling.
