ISP to receive upgrade to Illinois' AMBER Alert Program

DOWNERS GROVE - The Illinois AMBER Alert Task Force has announced that it has partnered with Alert GPS to provide the Illinois State Police with a faster and more efficient way to distribute notification messages.

Officials say Alert GPS' free notification platform is already used by other state AMBER Alert systems, and that it can easily be shared across state lines.  This addition will allow law enforcement agencies to quickly and efficiently issue AMBER Alerts through many different sources, including texts, emails, faxes, RSS feeds, the Emergency Alert System, and the Wireless Emergency Alerts system.

The Illinois AMBER Alert Task Force is a partnership between law enforcement agencies, the Press Association, the Illinois Department of Transportation, the National Weather Service, the Illinois Lottery, and broadcasters that aims to notify the public of child abduction cases in an effort to quickly locate and ensure the safe return of the child.
