Mattoon police make arrest in burglary

MATTOON - The Mattoon Police Department says one man has been arrested for allegedly stealing firearms and cell phones from a home this week.

Mattoon police say officers responded to a report of a burglary at a home during the early morning hours of May 14.  Police say the homeowners were asleep at the time of the incident, and that firearms and cell phones were stolen.

Authorities say Mattoon police officers executed a search warrant on a home in the 2300 block of Champaign Avenue, during which officers say they recovered the stolen firearms and a cell phone.  A resident of the home, identified as Sean Watson, 21, was arrested and faces a preliminary charge of residential burglary.
