Nonprofit raising money for repairs to Illinois Executive Mansion

SPRINGFIELD - The Illinois Executive Mansion Association will host a fundraiser in an effort to obtain money to pay for much-needed repairs to the Springfield residence.

The fundraiser is part of a statewide effort to raise money to repair the Illinois Executive Mansion.  Officials say the building needs an estimated $8.8 million to repair water damage and roof leaks, and to replace wood that is decaying and old heating and cooling systems.  Officials also say more than $2 million in emergency repairs were approved last year, but the money was never spent.

Illinois governor Bruce Rauner and former governors Jim Thompson and Jim Edgar are expected to be in attendance.  Officials say all donations towards the repairs will be accepted.
