Macon County Health Department hosting chronic disease self-management program

DECATUR - The Macon County Health Department is inviting central Illinois residents with chronic conditions to learn how to live healthier, happier lives during their Chronic Disease Self-Management Program on June 17.

Officials say classes will be held at the Decatur Indoor Sports Center.  Individuals who suffer from chronic conditions, such as high blood pressure and COPD, will be able to learn ways to better manage their conditions and symptoms in this program.  Topics that will be discussed will include:

- Working with your doctor
- Managing symptoms
- Medication “how-to's”
- Improving communication
- Personalizing a fitness & exercise program
- Tips for eating well
- Relaxation techniques
- Setting goals
- Setting goals
- Effective problem solving
