Decatur police investigate report of criminal damage

DECATUR - The Decatur Police Department is seeking the public's assistance in its investigation into a report of criminal damage during the early morning hours of May 17.

Decatur police say officers were dispatched to the 100 block of East William Street at about 1:30 a.m. for a report of criminal damage.  Upon arriving, officers say they found that a display window and flower box located near the front of a store had been damaged.  Authorities also say that two unknown black males were reported to have been seen in front of the business when the incident occurred, and that the two males ran from the scene when they were confronted by a witness.

Decatur police say the males were dressed in black-colored clothing, and ran northeast from the scene through a vacant parking lot.  If you have any information regarding this crime, you are asked to call Crime Stoppers at (217) 423-TIPS.
