Decatur Park District, State Board of Education providing free meals to kids

DECATUR - The Decatur Park District and Illinois State Board of Education are teaming up to provide central Illinois children with free meals at park and school locations.

In the Summer Food Service Program, children ages 18 and under are able to receive a free lunch at select parks and school locations.  This year's program will last from June 9 until August 5, and is the 32nd time this program has been held.  Officials say more than 46,000 meals were distributed to kids in Decatur during last year's program.

We've included a list of participating parks, and the times that meals will be served below:

Coates Park: 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.        
Garfield Park: 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.            
Grant Park: 11:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.
Hess Park: 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.        
Jasper Park: 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.        
Johns Hill Park: 11:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.        
Knights of Columbus Park: 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.                
Lions Park: 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.        
Monroe Park: 11:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.        
Mueller Park: 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.        
Oak Grove Park: 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.        
South Shores Park: 11:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.
