Families joining state officials to support clean air programs

SPRINGFIELD - Central Illinois families are joining with state officials and lawmakers in Springfield on Wednesday to show support for clean energy and clean air initiatives.

The meeting, titled "Mama Summit," started at 10:30 a.m. at the Capitol Rotunda.  Those in attendance are asking lawmakers to consider legislation that would result in a decrease in air pollution and harmful emissions, as well as clean energy solutions that don't put children's health at risk.

Officials say clean, renewable energy programs have saved Illinois residents $177 in power costs since 2007.  Officials also say those programs have resulted in the creation of nearly 20,000 jobs.
