One lucky Urbana High School student to win donated car

URBANA - One lucky Urbana High School student will walk away from the 2014-2015 school year with a new car, as O'Brien Auto Park of Urbana is teaming up with the school for their "In Good Standing" program.

O'Brien officials say the business is donating a car to Urbana High School as part of the celebration of the school's 100th anniversary.  UHS officials say the "In Good Standing" program was implemented to encourage students to keep their grades up and cut down on unexcused absences.

In the program, a student is considered "In Good Standing" if he or she is passing at least five classes, has no unexcused absences, referrals, or delinquent detentions.  The designation is given on a weekly basis, with rewards provided to students on a monthly basis.  UHS officials say the program will culminate on May 21 with a drawing for the donated car.

Four names will be drawn, with each student receiving a key to attempt to start the donated car.  Whoever is in possession of the key that starts the car will win the car.  The drawing will take place at 2:26 p.m.
