Macon County Conservation District announces new executive director

DECATUR - The Macon County Conservation District Board of Trustees has appointed a district employee to the position of Executive Director.

Trustees announced that Paul Marien was selected during a monthly board meeting on May 20.  Marien began working for the Macon County Conservation District in 1978, serving as an assistant forester, forester, and operations manager prior to being selected.

Officials say Marien will become the district's fourth executive director since the district's creation in 1966.  He succeeds Kathy Merner, who retired earlier this month after serving as executive director for 16 years.
